Executive Programme in Chinese Language offers a comprehensive and rigorous series of Cantonese and Mandarin courses for professionals and others who want to develop their Chinese language skills. Our teaching materials employ authentic spoken Cantonese and/or Mandarin. Our teachers provide a satisfying and successful language learning experience through an array of diverse teaching methods and constructive feedback and assessments. And our courses will allow you to develop a solid foundation, and pave the way to higher levels of language use and further study.
The programme consists of lectures plus Chinese culture immersion experiences. The one-year curriculum is comprised of three terms with classes meeting six hours per week. Language skills advance progressively over the three terms, though students can also select individual terms depending on background skill-level and interest.
There are three evening class choices:
1. Cantonese for Non-Chinese Speaking Students
2. Cantonese for Students with a Foundation in Mandarin or a Mandarin Speaking Background
3. Putonghua for Non-Chinese Speaking Students
Classes are taught by experienced teachers, who are native speakers of Chinese, and meet three times weekly after 5 p.m., with experiential classes by arrangement at various days and times. The teachers guide students in utilizing the language in real-world contexts, and develop their communication skills and appreciation of Chinese culture through lively, direct experience.
